2026 Huayu(Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship (HES) is now open for application until May 1, 2026.
The purpose of the 2026 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) is to encourage international students to undertake Mandarin Chinese courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan), to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.
Irish citizens, who are above the age of 18 and in possession of high school diploma or above, are eligible to apply for HES. The application period starts from now until May 1, 2026. Please mail the documents by post to Taipei Representative Office in Ireland, 8 Hatch Street Lower, Dublin, D02VY31.
Recipients will receive a 28,000 New Taiwan Dollar (NTD)≒750€ monthly stipend for each month of their scholarship award period.The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship will allow students to apply for EITHER a summer term lasting 2 months(June to July 2026 or July to August 2026) OR a choice of several terms beginning September 2026 lasting 3, 6, or 9 months depending on selection and availability.

Applicants are required to complete the online application through the Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Online Application System, or submit their application using the attached application form.

After completing the online application, please print out the application materials and send the hard copies to our office by registered mail. The postmark date will be regarded as the official submission date.
Please note that our office can only accept scholarship applications from Ireland. Applicants who are citizens of another country may apply for the scholarship through the Taiwanese embassy or representative office serving their home country.
