Effective July 16, 2026, the Republic of China (Taiwan) will no longer accept tourist visa applications from nationals of Sri Lanka. In addition, effective August 12, 2026, the acceptance of Republic of China (Taiwan) e-Visa applications from Sri Lankan nationals will be suspended.
Sri Lankan nationals applying for a visa on other grounds — including official invitations from ROC government agencies, exchange visits to Taiwan, family visits (relatives within the third degree of kinship), business, ship-boarding in Taiwan, or medical treatment — may only submit applications through the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai or the Taipei Representative Office in the Republic of Singapore. The following documents are required:
1. From the guarantor in Taiwan (documents must be authenticated by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, MOFA, one of its domestic branch offices, or an ROC overseas mission):
(1) a letter of guarantee, and
(2) a photocopy of the guarantor's Republic of China National Identification Card.
2. From the applicant:
(1) a photocopy of the passport data page,
(2) a certificate of no criminal record,
(3) proof of financial means,
(4) proof of accommodation for the duration of stay in Taiwan, and
(5) a return flight ticket.
