In accordance with the latest visa measures of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), please note the following arrangements concerning visa applications by Sri Lankan nationals:
Effective 16 July 2026, Sri Lankan nationals are no longer eligible to apply for visitor visas for tourism purposes.
Effective 12 August 2026, the issuance of eVisas to Sri Lankan nationals has also been temporarily suspended.
Sri Lankan nationals may still apply for a visa to enter the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the following purposes:
Official visits at the invitation of a government agency of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
Exchange activities
Visiting relatives within the third degree of kinship
Business
Joining a vessel in Taiwan
Medical treatment
Applications for visas for the above non-tourism purposes shall be submitted only to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai or the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.
Applicants are required to prepare the following documents:
1. Documents from the guarantor in Taiwan
The following documents must be authenticated by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its branch offices in Taiwan, or an overseas mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan):
Letter of Guarantee
Copy of the guarantor’s Republic of China (Taiwan) National Identification Card
2. Documents from the applicant
Copy of the passport biographical page
Police Clearance Certificate
Proof of financial capability
Proof of accommodation in Taiwan
Return air ticket
Applicants are advised to ensure that their purpose of travel and all required documents comply with the above requirements before submitting their applications.
