Agro-Processing Unit transferred to the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis since the end of 2013

The Agro-Processing Unit in the proximity of the Needsmust Farm was established in 2006 to promote agro-processing in the Federation. The unit offers a variety of training workshops on a regular basis such as packing, marketing, manufacture techniques so as to help train farmers to run their own agro-processing operations in the future. In addition, the unit also manufactures juice and dried fruits which are sold to local restaurants and supermarkets.The agro-processing project aims at achieving the followings: 1.Sustainable management and stable supply to meet market’s demands in order to maintain the marketing channels;2. Innovation to market local agro-processed products as souvenir for the booming tourism sector.3. Providing training and consultation to youths and technique transfer to prospective farmers4. Providing School Meal Centre with fresh products to enhance children’s nutrient balance.
The Unit has been transferred to the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis since the end of 2013
