Demonstration Farms in Needsmust and Cades Bay transferred to the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis since the end of 2013

St. Kitts Needsmust Demonstration Farm located on King Collins Highway, this farm is intended to be an experiment and demonstration site for officials, farmers, students and tourists. This 8.5-acre farm is home to a nursery; and various fruit trees such as carambola, Indian jujube, sugar apple, pineapple, mango, etc., and vegetables are grown on this farm. One of this farm’s major functions is to supply seedlings to farmers: for instance, pineapple slips, peanut seeds and sweet potato cuttings.
Nevis Cades Bay Demonstration Farm is located at Cades Bay of Nevis and covers 6 acres of land. Inside it, there are a nursery and a training centre. This farm provides consultation on cultivation, propagation, and farm management know-how. Several kinds of fruit trees are mass propagated here and the seedlings are provided to farmers. Field technique assistances such as pruning, grafting, and organic composting are also available to farmers and the general public. In addition to fruits like guava, carambola, watermelon, grapefruit, lime, sugar apple, cantaloupe, mango and avocado, various vegetables and sweet corns are also grown on this farm depending on the season.
The said Farms has been transferred to the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis since the end of 2013.
