Basseterre, St. Kitts, 26th May, 2017 (MyVueNews.com) - CCTV cameras have been installed in Shadwell and Conaree, as part of phase one installation involving Basseterre and its environs.
The CCTV Project is funded with significant financing from the Republic of China (Taiwan) as part of the assistance being provided to enhance public safety and security in the federation.
Equipment installation and training are being provided by VIVOTEK facilitated by local CCTV specialist Errol Wilkinson.
Recently, Prime Minister and National Security Minister Dr. Timothy Harris, accompanied by ROC Ambassador George How Wei Chiou visited the CCTV Monitoring Station located at Police Headquarters for an onsite update on the work being done.
According to information provided by the Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy said, "I was pleased that Prime Minister Harris choose to visit the Telecoms Department and to do a site visit of the installation of the system… Our team was happy to be able to show the PM this new technology, and I can saw he was impressed and all came away in agreement that this system will enhance our ability to patrol many more areas remotely.”
Brandy expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Republic of China to the Police Service, and informed that the system is about to enter an operational testing phase.
