Taiwan & St. Kitts and Nevis are ready for another collaboration upon signing of the Implementation Arrangement of “Capacity Building Project for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Metabolic Disease” by Ambassador Lee and Hon. Akilah Byron-Nisbett, Minister of Health, on July 7, 2020.
According to data from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), 83 percent of leading specific causes of mortality in St. Kitts and Nevis are chronic diseases, which have put pressure on the health care system of St. Kitts and Nevis. The newly signed Implementation Arrangement aims to strengthen the health care system of St. Kitts and Nevis and reduce its health burden through the chronic care model recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the input of Taiwan’s professional experiences in chronic diseases prevention and control.
