Taiwan and PADF Launch Youth Empowerment & STEM Project to Boost Sustainable Tourism in Caribbean Allies
To advance its “Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project” through international multilateral platforms, Taiwan has partnered with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF), affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS), to implement the EcoYouth Ventures project. This initiative aims to enhance sustainable tourism in three Caribbean allies—Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines—through youth empowerment and STEM education.
The signing ceremony took place on June 6, 2025, at PADF headquarters in Washington, D.C., with Taiwan’s Representative to the U.S., Ambassador Alexander Yui Tah-ray, and PADF Executive Director Katie Taylor signing on behalf of both parties. Ambassador Yui emphasized the importance of education and tourism for national development and expressed hope that the project will strengthen STEM capacity and promote sustainable economic growth in the partner countries. Taylor thanked Taiwan for its ongoing support in Latin America and the Caribbean and looked forward to improving youth education and employment opportunities through this initiative.
Dignitaries from OAS and Taiwan’s embassies in the three partner nations also attended virtually. The two-year project is expected to benefit 1,500 students, underscoring Taiwan’s commitment to regional development and prosperity.
