At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Prime Minister Terrance Drew of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Diani Prince-Drew, will lead a delegation on an official visit to Taiwan from November 13 to 17, 2025. Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung welcomed the delegation at the airport early on November 13. Members of the delegation include Foreign Minister Denzil Douglas, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Naeemah Hazelle, and Ambassador-at-Large Leon Natta-Nelson, among others.
Upon arrival, Prime Minister Drew delivered remarks at the airport, reaffirming the steadfast 42-year friendship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan. He expressed that he was deeply impressed by Taiwan’s achievements during his previous visits and said he was honored to be invited again, hoping the visit would help strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation.
This marks Prime Minister Drew’s third visit to Taiwan during his tenure. During the visit, he will meet with President Lai Ching-te to exchange views on bilateral cooperation and shared concerns. He will also attend a banquet hosted by Minister Lin Chia-lung, witness the twinning of Basseterre with Taipei and Tainan, and gain first-hand understanding of Taiwan’s industrial, economic, and cultural development.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1983, Taiwan and Saint Kitts and Nevis have maintained solid and friendly ties. The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has consistently supported Taiwan’s international participation. Notably, Prime Minister Drew has sponsored resolutions in Parliament supporting Taiwan’s participation in international organizations for three consecutive years, all passed unanimously, reflecting the bipartisan and enduring support for Taiwan. Over the years, cooperation between the two countries has been broad and comprehensive, and both sides will continue to strengthen their partnership based on shared values and mutual respect.
