On January 27, the Taiwan Technical Mission and the Ministry of Health of St. Kitts and Nevis jointly conducted a Screening Team Refresher Training under the Mental Health Service System Enhancement Project. The training aimed to strengthen community screening capacity and ensure early detection and timely intervention for individuals at risk.
Led by Project Manager Ms. Ivy Shih and consultant trainer Mrs. Michele de la Coudray-Blake, the session brought together community nurses and district medical officers. Participants reviewed screening workflows and were introduced to the Columbia–Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), enabling clearer distinction between suicidal ideation and behaviors. Through role-play scenarios, the team practiced empathetic and non-judgmental communication, reinforcing that open dialogue is key to effective support.
This initiative enhances the Federation’s mental health safety net and builds a more responsive community care system.
