A five-member medical mission from Taipei Veterans General Hospital arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis on February 24 and immediately commenced a two-week service program, delivering clinical care, cross-island emergency support, and medical equipment donations to strengthen frontline healthcare capacity and further deepen bilateral cooperation.
In the early morning of February 26, Dr. Hsia Ting-An, neonatologist, and Nurse Wang Chi traveled from Nevis to St. Kitts to assist in the consultation of a 16-month-old infant at Joseph N. France General Hospital. Following a joint assessment with local physicians confirming that the child was stable and out of danger, the team promptly returned to Nevis to continue their scheduled duties. The swift response demonstrated professional expertise and the effectiveness of close medical collaboration.
On the next day, February 27, the delegation also held a medical equipment donation ceremony at Alexandra Hospital, providing essential supplies including a venography flashlight, neonatal stethoscope, nasogastric tubes, disposable sterile syringes with needles, and central venous catheters to enhance frontline clinical capacity.
The mission members include Intensivist Dr. Chen Po-Liang, Neonatologist Dr. Hsia Ting-An, Nurse Wang Chi, Diabetes Educator Lo Hui-Mei, and Dietitian Chang Tzu-Yi. The team has been delivering outpatient consultations, emergency support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) training, and chronic disease education at Alexandra Hospital and the Nevis Health Promotion Center, while also supporting healthcare services in St. Kitts. The mission reflects Taiwan’s continued commitment to sustainable healthcare development in the Federation.
