The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Saint Kitts and Nevis warmly welcomes the first-ever medical mission to the Federation conducted by the "North American Taiwanese Medical Association" (NATMA), comprising 17 volunteer healthcare professionals, who have arrived in Saint Kitts and Nevis to provide free medical services.
This mission marks NATMA’s inaugural medical outreach in the Federation and represents an important milestone in trilateral cooperation in public health and humanitarian medical services between Taiwan, the United States, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Embassy expresses its sincere appreciation and highest respect to NATMA members—including Taiwanese expatriates in North America and professionals of diverse backgrounds—for their longstanding commitment to the health and well-being of the people of Taiwan’s diplomatic partners.
To mark the commencement of this historic visit, Ambassador Edward Ling-Wen Tao hosted a warm welcome reception on May 31, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, introducing the medical delegation to senior health officials and local healthcare professionals. The event was attended by Minister of Health of Nevis, Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Curtis Martin, along with other health officials and professionals, who together witnessed this important occasion. During the reception, NATMA also donated two dental X-ray machines, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals valued at approximately USD $20,000, demonstrating its tangible support for the local healthcare system.
Led by Dr. Charles Hsu, the 17-member volunteer medical team, composed of healthcare professionals from the United States and Canada, will provide free medical services from June 1 to 4 across both Saint Kitts and Nevis. The services cover family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, pharmacy, acupuncture, and other medical support specialties, helping to enhance the healthcare capacity of the Federation.
On the morning of June 1, Prime Minister and Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, received Ambassador Tao and Mission Leader Dr. Charles Hsu at the Prime Minister’s Office, where he expressed sincere gratitude to the entire medical delegation and commended their humanitarian spirit in providing healthcare services beyond borders. The Prime Minister also specifically thanked the Embassy for facilitating the mission, which further strengthens trilateral cooperation in healthcare between Taiwan, the United States, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
