The application for the 2020 Taiwan Scholarship, ICDF Scholarship and I-SHOU Medical Scholarship programmes is open to Saint Lucia students from 13 January through 15 March 2020. The scholarship programmes provide opportunities for young talented Saint Lucians to study in Taiwan for Bachelor, Master or PhD degrees. The awardees list will be posted on the Embassy’s website on 30 June 2020.

Applicants are requested to apply for ONLY ONE programme, multiple applications will result in direct disqualification of your application.

A briefing on the above-mentioned scholarship programmes will be held by the Embassy, detailed information will be announced on its website and its Facebook page once determined.

All application documents should be delivered to the Embassy by the deadline of 15 March 2020; any delivery beyond that date or applications without all required documents will not be accepted. Please be informed that submitted documents will not be returned to applicants.

The Embassy will interview qualified applicants, who will be notified by phone.

For the I-SHOU Medical Scholarship applicants, both the written exam and the interview will be held at the Embassy. The written exam covers topics on English, Chemistry and Biology. The interview will be conducted via Skype with professors from Taiwan at the Embassy. Actual date will be announced at a later time.

Notice:

For applicants who have received any of the above-mentioned scholarships before and would like to apply for the 2020 Scholarship, their previous graduation date in Taiwan and the date of return to Saint Lucia should be prior to 1 August 2019. Please attach a copy of the stamped page of arrival record on the passport or other related proof when handing in the application to the Embassy.

The applicant should be of Saint Lucia nationality. Previous scholarship recipients who have been disqualified by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) or the school are not eligible to apply again.

Application procedures:

1. For MOFA Taiwan Scholarships applicants should submit the following documents to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Saint Lucia:

(1) A completed application form.

(2) A photocopy of their passport or other documents that prove nationality.

(3) A photocopy of the highest-level diploma or certificate of equivalent educational level and a complete grade transcript.

If issued by a foreign educational institution, these documents must be authenticated by an ROC diplomatic mission, or directly mailed by the foreign educational institution the applicant attended to the educational institution they plan to matriculate at (if these documents are in languages other than Chinese or English, a Chinese or an English translation should be provided).

(4) Documents to certify that they have applied to an educational institution or its affiliated Mandarin Training Center, such as photocopies of the application fee receipt, the application form and a note of reply or email from the educational institution.

(5) For those applying for degree programs taught in Chinese, a photocopy of a TOCFL transcript or certificate for Level 2 or above.

(6) A photocopy of a TOEFL transcript, a certificate of English proficiency approved by the applicant’s government, or documents to certify that the applicant has graduated from a programme taught in English. This does not apply to applicants whose official national language is English.

(7) Recommendation letters, if applicable.

(8) Other documents requested by ROC diplomatic missions accepting the application.

2. For ICDF Scholarship This year, 21 universities (31 all English programs) in Taiwan are partner schools of ICDF Scholarship Programme.

Applicants should choose ONE program and complete the BOTH online university application form and the ICDF Scholarship online application form.

Applicants should print out the hard copy of the application forms on the website and submit to the Embassy along with:

1. A photocopy of the applicant’s passport or other document showing proof of nationality.
2. A photocopy of the applicant’s highest-level diploma and academic transcripts.
3. A photocopy of the applicant’s English proficiency certificate.
4. (Please note: This means a TOEFL test score or that of another recognised English proficiency exam, or documents certifying that the applicant has graduated from a program where all courses were taught in English. Applicants who are unable to provide such proof of English proficiency due to special circumstances may be assessed for English proficiency by an ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate General/ Representative Office via interview or other forms of testing. Applicants whose official national language is English are exempted from these documents.)
5. Two letters of reference.
6. A Police Clearance Letter.

3. I-SHOU Medical Scholarship

Please follow the same application procedure for ICDF Scholarship as well as the I-SHOU Medical School application that's already been announced on our website.

For Saint Lucia Government Officials:

• For Saint Lucia Government officials who are interested in the scholarship programs, approval documents from their assigned Ministry will be required. They also need to complete the Government Scholarship Application form and submit it to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Department of the Ministry for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, with copies of all documents required for different scholarship programs.
