The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to support foreign experts and scholars interested in research at Taiwan’s universities or academic institutions that is related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region, Sinology, Taiwan’s participation in regional economic integration, combat disinformation, gender equality study or the "New Southbound Policy" promoted by Taiwan's government to strengthen Taiwan’s relations with Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN as well as South Asian countries.
The Fellowship will be open for application from May 1st to July 8th, 2023, and recipients may be able to conduct their research in Taiwan as early as January 2024 and finalize the research as late as December 2024.
- Eligibility:
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
- Awards:
Round trip air ticket.
Monthly stipends: NT$50,000 – 60,000 (CAD$1= NT$22.97) for the duration of research, from 3 months up to 1 year.
Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.

Applicants from St Lucia are requested to first submit online applications on the Taiwan Fellowship’s website ( https://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw) and then submit the following documents to the Embassy of Taiwan in St. Lucia before June 30st, 2023.

- Two letters of recommendation, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of their institute
