Such a joyous and rosy celebration at the “Lawòz” Festival, splendid reflection of Saint Lucia’s vibrant traditional culture. The festival, held annually on August 30, is blessed by the church service followed by parade and presentations from different “Lawòz” groups from all communities.
Young and old, boys and girls, women and men - everybody all gear up for the festival to share the energy and spirit that make this festival truly special. Participants wear bright pink, red, and floral-themed outfits, creating a spectacular and colorful display of the rose. Cosplay with magnificent costumes representing different roles depicting the history of battles in Saint Lucia.Traditional songs and festive melody to praise the beauty of the rose, to light up the spirit, and to boost up the morale of the communities are mesmerizing.
Lawòz, honouring St. Rose of Lima, is the last event of the series of Emancipation Celebration, as well as one of Saint Lucia’s two iconic flower festivals. We thank the Cultural Development Foundation for the invitation and we salute your wonderful efforts to showcasing the island’s rich cultural heritage and bringing together the community spirit. ![]()
