Mas Making Magic: From Vision to Costume – Workshop Dear Our Heart!
The closing ceremony of the “Mas Making Magic: From Vision to Costume”Workshop marks a vibrant celebration of tradition, innovation, and cultural collaboration. Over 3 weeks, participants explored the art of carnival costume making through 10 face-to-face sessions and 4 virtual courses, blending traditional craftsmanship with Taiwanese technologies like LED lighting
, and motorized motion mechanics.
This initiative, part of the “Taiwan Spotlight Project”, was made possible through the support of the Cultural Development Foundation(CDF), the Ministry of Tourism Saint Lucia, the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, and our Embassy.
6 dazzling Carnival costume models were unveiled, including the “LaDjablesse” built by the Taiwanese master artist Ms. Chuang, as well as other creations by local artisans. Their works demonstrate the rich and vibrant culture of Saint Lucia while incorporating exciting elements from Taiwan’s creative industry.
Kudos to all the participant, ranging from experienced artists to first-time makers, for their hard work, creativity, and dedication!
Special thanks to Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire for his vision; to Taiwanese facilitator Ms. HsienYu Chuang; and to Mrs. Raymona Henry-Wynne and Ms. Tracy Dorcy for their invaluable guidance throughout this journey.
