Inspiring Workshop on “Kwéyòl–English Online Dictionary”

We are excited to present to you, the “Kwéyòl–English Online Dictionary”, proudly built by the Taiwanese young talent, Jimmy Chiu, intern at the 臺灣駐聖露西亞技術團 Taiwan Technical Mission in St. Lucia With the support of the Folk Research Centre we organized the workshop to introduce the dictionary.
This is our tribute to the wonderful Creole culture and our deep commitment to preserving Kwéyòl in Saint Lucia. This Project intends to transform the print dictionary into a digital tool that is accessible to all, and to lay a foundation of resource for the preservation and learning of Creole language.
The workshop was attended by friends of the FRC, CAMDU curriculum officers from Saint Lucia Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation Kwéyòl language experts, and software engineers. We shared how the online dictionary system had been built from scratch, and introduced its features, structure, and programming design to facilitate the future host of this Dictionary.
We thank Jimmy for his dedication and willingness to use his knowledge and expertise to bring this project to life.

Language carries culture, heritage and national identity. We are happy to present this online Kwéyòl dictionary to you, so that more people can learn and use Kwéyòl, and to help preserve the precious cultural treasure.
