22 years ago, the ROC(Taiwan) and the RMI established diplomatic ties on Nov. 20th, 1998. A series of activities were held in celebration of the memorable date.
The celebrations began with Amb. Hsiao handed over 2 coastal patrol boats to the RMI on Nov. 18th, 2020. H.E. President David Kabua, Ministers, U.S. Amb. Roxanne Cabral and members of diplomatic corps attended the ceremony and had a ride on the boats. This donation not only enhances RMI’s maritime security, but also demostrates the solid friendship between the two countries.
On Nov. 20, 2020, Amb. Hsiao, along with H.E. President Kabua and other 6 ministers, attended TTM(Taiwan Technical Mission)/NRC(Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce) Agricultural Achievement Exibition on Laura Farm. Druing his remarks, Amb. Hsiao echoed President David Kabua’s agriculture policy in his state of union, and announced the TTM will expand agricultural cooperation projects in neighboring islands. David Lin, Leader of TTM, then briefed the fruitful results for the past six years and TTM’s new 4-year project. President David Kabua extended his gratitude to the ROC(Taiwan) government for its long-term contributions to the RMI agricultural development.
Futhermore, the Marshall Islands national radio station V7AB, cooperated with Radio Taiwan International, aired an one hour program to introduce Taiwanese culture, music and food, etc. and help the Marshallese people to have a better understanding of Taiwan on the special day.
