On May 19th, 2022, the launching ceremony for the AMEN AKKĀ Eo Farm was held in Ebeye, Kwajalein Atoll. The farm is established with the assistance of Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) and is the first agricultural site in Ebeye under the cooperation between the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and the Marshall Islands.
On behalf of Ambassador Jeffrey S.C. Hsiao, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mars Wang pointed out that the AMEN AKKĀ Eo Farm marks a new beginning and milestone for Ebeye agriculture; and with the joint efforts by the RMI Ministry of Natural Resource and Commerce (NRC), Kwajalein Atoll Local Government (KALGOV), communities, and TTM, there has been initial but solid results. Mars Wang continued: “To increase local food production, promote a balanced and healthy diet, and train local farmers, let’s work together to make this farm even bigger, better, and sustainable.”
The launching ceremony was organized by the NRC and KALGOV, Hon. Minister John Silk of the NRC, Iroijlaplap(The Highest Chief) Michael Kabua, and Senator David Paul also made remarks to express their support for Taiwan-RMI agricultural projects. Other attendees included Hon. Jiba Kabua, the Minister of Public Work, Hon. Minister Kitlang Kabua, the Minister of Education, Sports, and Training, Senator Tony Aesia, Joe Bejang, Hiroshi Yamamura, traditional leaders, Councilmen of the Kwajalein Atoll, community representatives, and students of the Kwajalein Atoll High School.
