The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Ministry of Resources and Development, with the assistance of RMI Ministry of Health, Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Technical Mission (Laura Farm), Taiwan Health Center, the College of the Marshall Islands, and under the sponsorship and participation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), jointly held the annual Laura Farm Day/World Food Day on 19 November 2011. H.E. Ambassador George T.K. Li of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Hon. Minister Mattlan Zackhras of RMI Resources and Development, Hon. Minister Amenta Matthew, H.E. Ambassador Martha Campbell, Hon. Charge d’Affaires ad interim Fumiyoshi Kashima, Dr. Vili Fuavao as UNFAO Sub-Regional Representative for the Pacific Islands, Acting Mayor Carlson Timothy of Majuro Atoll and approximately 300 other guests all attended the Farm day/World Food Day event. Followed by remarks given by Acting Mayor Timothy, H.E. Ambassador Li, Hon. Minister Zackhras and UNFAO Sub-Regional Representative Fuavao and their awarding prizes to the 3 selected most outstanding farmers of the year, cooking demonstration, blood sugar screening, open house and tours of Laura Farm and auction of piglets all contributed to making this annual Farm Day/World Food Day a great sensation and success.
