Speaker of the Marshall Islands Parliament Brenson Wase’s Visit to Taiwan was a Success!

Brenson Wase, Speaker of the Nitijela of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, visited Taiwan from July 11 to 16, 2024, at the invitation of the Taiwanese government. The visit was a success.
The delegation included Senators Jack Ading, Wilbur Heine, and Bruce Loeak. The visit was Speaker Wase's first visit to Taiwan since taking office. During their stay, the delegation met with President Lai Ching-te, Legislative Yuan President Daniel K.Y. Han, Minister Ljaucu‧Zingrur of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, and Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-An. They also attended a luncheon hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-Lung.
Taiwan and the Marshall Islands share a close and friendly relationship based on common values of democracy, freedom, and human rights. The two countries have long cooperated in food security, healthcare, infrastructure, climate change adaptation, education, and women's empowerment. The delegation's visit included in-depth discussions on these topics to strengthen the Taiwan-Marshall Islands partnership further.
The relationship between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands has great potential for further growth and cooperation. Both sides are committed to strengthening our ties and working together to address common challenges, achieve sustainable development, and promote regional stability.
