4. Did you have opportunities to share Taiwanese culture during your service?
Yes! With the help of some students, I learned the magic spell, “3-3-1”—a way to get everyone quiet and focus. It works just like our “Ai De Gu Li” in Taiwan: once someone shouts “3-3-1,” everyone claps together in rhythm and refocuses.
So, I taught my students the Taiwanese version too, and they thought it was really fun.
I also organized a small activity for the Dragon Boat Festival, so teachers and students could learn about this traditional Taiwanese holiday. Now, some students not only greet me with ‘Ni Hao,” but can even fold a paper zongzi!
I really enjoyed those cultural exchanges. Through sharing, I felt the warmth of the Marshallese people, and I’m happy I got to introduce Taiwan to more people.
5. Lastly, is there anything you want to say to the Marshall Islands?
