On October 16, the Taiwan Technical Mission was invited to participate in the World Food Day & Bob Festival, organized by the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce. Through a series of fun and educational activities, the Mission promoted home gardening, nutrition awareness, and healthy eating while sharing a joyful day with the local community!
- Free Seedling Distribution: The Mission distributed free fruit and vegetable seedlings to encourage community members to grow their own fresh produce and bring healthier food choices into their daily lives.
- Fun and Educational Games: Interactive challenge games introduced participants to a variety of fruits and vegetables, making learning about agriculture both enjoyable and engaging.
- Exciting Pig-Catching Activity: The Mission also organized a lively and entertaining pig-catching activity that brought excitement, laughter, and fun to the festival!
- Promoting Fresh Produce Through a Cooking Competition: The Mission provided fresh fruits and vegetables for the cooking competition and served as judges. Participants were encouraged to get creative and incorporate fresh produce into their dishes, showing how fruits and vegetables can make everyday meals both nutritious and delicious.
- Bringing Healthcare and Agriculture Together: Dr. Liou Tsan-Hon, Superintendent of Shuang Ho Hospital in Taiwan, also attended the event. The Taiwan Health Center and the Taiwan Technical Mission regularly work to promote nutrition education and healthy eating. Through collaboration between healthcare and agriculture, they help community members gain practical nutrition knowledge, make healthier food choices, and develop healthier lifestyles.
Taiwan will continue working hand in hand with the RMI Government and local communities to combine agricultural development with health promotion, helping more families access fresh, nutritious produce and contributing to a healthier and more food-secure Marshall Islands!
