This year, 137 Malaysians have been awarded the MOE Taiwan Scholarship, Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), and ICDF Scholarships to pursue their dreams of studying academic degrees or short-term Mandarin courses in Taiwan.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia celebrated the achievements of the scholarship recipients at the award ceremony held at Kuen Cheng High School, on July 26, 2026, where around 300 recipients and their families gathered in joy and pride.
In her opening remarks, Representative Dr. Lien Yu-Ping congratulated the awardees and inspired them to embrace this opportunity for growth and exploration during their time in Taiwan. She also pointed out that out of 137 awardees this year, 95 are non-chinese Malaysian and this shows an increasing number of students from diverse ethnic backgrounds are choosing Taiwan for both degree studies and Mandarin language learning, proving that Taiwan is becoming an increasingly attractive and inclusive destination for students from all backgrounds in Malaysia.
The event this year for the first time has combined the “2026 Jom Taiwan! Creative Short Video Contest” award ceremony and Kahoot Quiz Game. With the sponsorship from China Airlines, EVA Air and STARLUX Airlines, two Grand Prize winners of the Jom Taiwan video contest and one winner of Kahoot Quiz Game have respectively received a KUL-TPE return flight ticket.
