1.Introduction:
International education and training has long been one of the TaiwanICDF’s core operations, among many others. Human resources development programs play a vital role in assisting partner countries achieve sustainable development, and education is a crucial mechanism for training workforces in developing countries. The TaiwanICDF provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.
2.Scholarship Benefits
Entitlements: The TaiwanICDF provides each scholarship recipient with a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance. Only for master and Phd applicants.

3.TaiwanICDF Scholarship Partner Universities
The TaiwanICDF has established the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA) with its partner universities, setting up an operational platform under this TICA framework to manage and improve the scholarship program. More information about each of the programs offered through the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program can be found on the relevant partner university’s website (Appendix 2: list of partner universities).
Please note: For Nigerian applicants, only master and Phd program are available
4. Eligibility
Applicants applying for a TaiwanICDF scholarship must meet both the general eligibility criteria (Appendix 3)and be a national of a country on the List of Countries Eligible for TaiwanICDF Scholarship. Applicants must also meet the Regulations Governing Visiting, Resident, and Permanent Residency of Aliens set by ROC(Taiwan) National Immigration Agency.
5. Application process:
(1) Deadline: 15 March 2015. Please submit the following application documents to the Trade Mission of the ROC(Taiwan) in Nigeria (mailing address: Trade Mission of ROC(Taiwan), PMB 5111, 31 Katsina Ala Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria). Applicants must ensure that they submit accurate and complete documentation; failure to do so will result in the application not being processed. Please also note that late submissions will not be accepted and/or processed.
(2) Required application documents:
1.A completed application form (completed online, printed out and signed)
Please note: The online application system will be closed on March 15. Please complete the application as earlier as possible.

2.A photocopy of applicant’s passport or other document showing proof of nationality.
3.A photocopy of applicant’s highest-level diploma and academic transcripts.
Please note: If issued by international educational institutions, these documents must be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria or be sealed and delivered by the awarding institutions. Documents in a language other than Chinese or English must be translated into Chinese or English and the translated documents must be authenticated.
4.A TaiwanICDF Medical Report(including an HIV test)dated within the the past three months. (Appendix 4)
5.Two letters of reference.
6. In addition to the above documents requested as part of their scholarship application, applicants should also submit all documents required by the TaiwanICDF partner university that they are applying to before the admissions deadline of that university. For detailed information on such documents, please refer to the individual enrollment websites for TaiwanICDF Scholarship Partner Universities. (Appendix 2)
(3) Selection: The Trade Mission of the ROC(Taiwan) in Nigeria will conduct a first review of applicants based on the eligibility requirements and selection criteria of the TaiwanICDF by March 20 2015.
A second review of the qualified applicants will be conducted by an academic committee organized by the individual partner university in joint cooperation with TaiwanICDF representatives. Such reviews will be based on each university’s selection criteria, whilst also accounting for the eligibility requirements and selection criteria of the TaiwanICDF.
After the second review has been conducted in cooperation with all partner universities, the TaiwanICDF will announce its list of scholarship recipients, in principle, no later than June 30 each year. Successful applicants will receive an acceptance letter through the Trade Mission of the ROC(Taiwan) in Nigeria to whom they originally applied.
Please note: Gaining admission from the university does not necessarily mean that the applicant has also been given a TaiwanICDF scholarship. Only the applicant who receives the acceptance letter issued by the TaiwanICDF is the scholarship recipient.
