Special Message by H.E. Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines
On the Grand Opening of Yubantec Philippines, Inc.
In the Subic Bay Gateway Park
August 26, 2019
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning! Magandang umaga!
It is my great honor and pleasure to be invited to say a few words at today’s auspicious occasion on the Grand Opening of Yubantec Philippines, Inc. in the Subic Bay Gateway Park. First of all, I wish to congratulate Chairman Mao-Hsiung Huang of TECO Group for further strengthening his business ties with the Philippines through Yubantec Philippines Inc.. Through Chairman Huang’s extensive international management experience and sagacious leadership, Yubantec has been successfully transformed into a leading high-tech company in the global market, providing total solutions to its clients worldwide.
Given our close geographic proximity, Taiwan and the Philippines share close ties in many fields including trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, education among others. In 1994, both sides established the Subic Bay Development and Management Corporation, Inc. to develop, manage and market the Subic Bay Gateway Park as well as to provide business-related assistance to locators and potential investors. Currently, there are 115 Taiwanese companies located in this industrial park and more than 12,000 jobs were created while more companies are planning to locate to Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Yubantec Philippines’ Grand Opening is surely a clear indicator of the strong will of the Taiwan government and business sector to promote the New Southbound Policy. As both of our countries share long-standing cooperation in many areas, I believe that this is the right time for us to work together even closer to further strengthen our bilateral cooperation.
I deeply appreciate both the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and the Subic Bay Development and Management Corporation, Inc. for their most valuable support to facilitate the economic and trade relations between Taiwan and the Philippines.
In closing, I thank Chairman Mao-Hsiung Huang and Vice Chairman Mr. Tung-Hai Kao of Yubantec Philippines for their concrete contribution to the Philippine economy. May all your joint efforts continue to expand and deepen to further cement the long-standing bilateral cooperation and friendship between Taiwan and the Philippines.
I wish all of you continuous success, good health and prosperity! Maraming Salamat Po! Mabuhay!
