The Department of Health of the Philippines recently recommended that Philipinos check the immunization requirements of the country they are going to visit, and if required, receive a dose of Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) before departure and get their International Certificate of Vaccination from the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) to serve as proof of their vaccination.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines has recently received many enquiries from Philipinos about if a certificate of vaccination for polio is needed when they enter Taiwan.
According to Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, the infectious vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2s (cVDPV2s) in the Philippines has potential risk of international spread. Taiwan Centers for Disease Control encourages all residents and long-term visitors in the Philippines to receive an additional dose of IPV 4 weeks to 12 months prior to their departure for Taiwan.
