In accordance with the revision of the Civil Code of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to lower the legal age of adulthood to 18 years old, please take note of the following matters when applying for a family reunion visa.

In conjunction with the revision of certain articles of the Civil Code of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the legal age of adulthood is lowered to 18 years old, which has taken effect from January 1st, 2023. This office handles visa applications for foreign minor children of Taiwanese nationals (registered in household registration in Taiwan) and foreign nationals holding a residence permit for more than 6 months, according to the following principles:
Applicants under 18 years old: processing for family reunion residence visas according to the current regulations.
Applicants over 18 years old but under 20 years old: after verifying the required documents, only granting family visit visas with an appropriate validity period.
