Taipei, Feb. 4 (CNA) Eight guided steam train tours will be launched on Alishan next month, offering visitors a ride on a more than 100-year-old mountain train to view the scenery during the cherry blossom festival, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office said Thursday.
In a statement, the office said the special steam train tours will be available March 8, 15 , 22 and 29, coinciding with the Alishan National Scenic Area's annual cherry blossom festival that will run for one month from March 10. On the tours, the century-old steam train will travel on the Alishan Forest Railway Zhaoping Line, along an S-shaped mountain route, allowing great views of the cherry trees in full bloom, the office said.
