※NOTE:The Scholarship is competitive and reviewed by the Committee, not all the applicants are sure to be offered the scholarship.
Entitlements: The scholarship is provided by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Foundation (ICDF). The scholarship offering includes airfare (Round-Trip), housing tuition, credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance. The scholarship offering is itemizes as follows:
Airfare: The TaiwanICDF shall provide economy class tickets for the most-direct flights to and from Taiwan.
Housing: All students must reside in the graduate student dormitories.
Tuition fee: The TaiwanICDF will cover the tuition fee as required by the student's university.
Credit fees: Credit fees vary with the number of credits registered. Credit fees will also be covered as required by the student's university.
Insurance: While in Taiwan, in addition to the mandatory student safety insurance set by the Ministry of Education, each student must be insured for accidental and medical coverage. Insurance fees will be covered for the entire duration of the program.
Book costs: Purchasing textbooks as required by your instructors shall be subject to the approval of the director of your institute.
Allowance:
(1) Master's Program: Each student shall receive NT$15,000/Around US$462 per month as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student's local back account.
(2) Ph.D. Program: Each student shall receive NT$17,000/Around US$523 per month as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student's local back account.
HOW TO APPLY
The application process for TaiwanICDF scholarship applicants is dual. Candidates MUST complete two application procedures - One for Yang-Ming University and the other for TaiwanICDF scholarship. Please note two application forms need to be filled in. One for the applied International Health Program and the other for TaiwanICDF scholarship.
Step A. Summit the application for TaiwanICDF scholarship (online)
Deadline for TaiwanICDF scholarship Application: March 16
Step B. Submit the application to International Health Program, Yang-Ming University (online)
Admission deadline for Yang-Ming University: March 31
1. Two copies of the Application Form (online registration)
2. Declaration Form(MUST include applicant’s signature)
3. Autobiography (TYPE in English only, hand-writing is not acceptable)
4. Two Letters of Recommendation (attached to the application)
5. Study and research plan ( TYPE in English only, hand-writing is not acceptable)
■ Purpose of study: Delineating the reasons for studying public health
■ Plans of study: Stating specific area of interest, and proposed subject ofcurrent or future research
■ Anticipated results: Stating how the intended study will help fulfill personal and scientific goals
6. One official copy of the highest-level diploma/certificate (or equivalent academic attainment) AND one original copy of transcript(s) issued by the institution (with translations into English or Chinese, if in other languages)
■ Master's program applicants: Bachelor's (or above) degree diploma/transcripts
■ PhD program applicants: Master's (or above) degree diploma/transcripts
※NOTE: The graduation diploma/certificate of foreign educational institutions and transcripts shall be subjected to validation by the R.O.C.(Taiwan) embassy/representative office (in applicant’s country) in accordance with requirements of the Ministry of Education, R.O.C.
7. English Proficiency: For international applicants whose native language is not English, TOEFL minimum score above 80(IBT)/213(CBT)/550(PBT) or IELTS 6.5 is required – it must have been taken within the past five years. Other appropriate proofs of English proficiency provided by the R.O.C. embassies are also acceptable.
8. Other supporting materials: Other materials to evidence the applicant’s abilities and experiences. (Optional)
