The Republic of China on Taiwan is assisting Swaziland in seven infrastructural projects:
1) Rehabilitation of Mbabane Government Hospital Outpatient Department;
2) Construction of Potable Water Supply and Sanitation at Nkhungwini, Mhlangeni and Ntfonjeni Communities;
3) Procurement of Furniture and Equipment for Schools Science Laboratories;
4) Procurement of Equipment for Basic Solid Waste Management Plant;
5) Procurement of Equipment for the Cooperative Development Education Centre (CODEC)/National Handicraft Training Centre (NHTC), including Outreach Programme;
6) Completion of Solar Powered LED Lighting System at Ezulwini MR3-Tea Road Intersection;
7) Procurement and Installation of Computer System, Conference Facility, Renovation Works and Flag Poles for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation.
Swazi Minister of Economic Planning and Development Prince Hlangusemphi received the donation at Taiwan’s embassy on 26 June 2017.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, the Republic of China on Taiwan Ambassador Thomas Chen said the ROC was proud to partner with Swaziland in improving its health care, education and infrastructure etc. which will facilitate the country’s pursuit of its Vision 2022.
Minister of Economic Planning and Development Prince Hlangusemphi appreciated the continued support from the Republic of China. He said,“Allow me to extend our heartfelt gratitude to your government for the approval to these budgets, directed to the afore mentioned projects. We assure you, your excellency and the people of Taiwan, of our relentless commitment in our long standing bilateral cooperation”. He also urged the implementing ministries to adhere to the timelines specified for the projects.
Minister of Education and Training Dr. Phineas Magagula, Principal Secretary Dr. Simon Zwane of Ministry of Health, and Principal Secretary Siboniso Nkambulealso of Ministry of Commerce also took the opportunity to thank the ROC for its unwavering support.
