Taiwan president urges closer ties with SD

A 21-gun salute and a military parade at the Chiang Kai-shek memorial hall characterised the official welcome ceremony for His Majesty the King’s state visit to the Republic of China on Taiwan on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, His Majesty said the ceremony evoked vivid memories of his first visit to Taiwan in 1989 which culminated in numerous others.
He noted that the relationship with Taiwan was established 46 years ago and anchored on a solid foundation that has stood the test of time.
He said visits of this magnitude provided a valuable opportunity to engage on issues of mutual concern, especially the enhancing of existing ties between the two countries.
Solidarity
“Therefore, we have a duty as leaders of our two nations, to continue strengthening these ties on this solid rock and show solidarity to each other’s needs for the benefit of future generations,” he said.
He assured the president of Swaziland’s committed support towards Taiwan’s inclusion into the family of nations.
The president of China on Taiwan Ma Ying-jeou, welcomed the king to Taiwan and further thank the country for supporting his country on the international front.
He said his country was looking forward to advancing bilateral relations with the kingdom. He noted the various sectors in which cooperation between the two countries has yielded tangible benefits, particularly in agriculture and health.
The two leaders then engaged in bilateral talks at the presidential office before the king moved to another district where he toured the I-Shou University.
Taiwan tycoon invited to Swaziland
IT is described as one of the world’s best vacation spots.
It is also said to be the only complex in all of Taiwan that contains eight main categories; two hotels (one five star), a villa, a university, a school, residential areas, a shopping mall and a theme park.
It is was founded by Lin Shou who hosted His Majesty the King and delegation at his resort for a second time on Tuesday, having done so a few years ago.
Lin is a steel magnate and is one of the wealthiest businessmen in Taiwan who created E-DA world in the late 1990s when he had a vision to create a top class university, a residential area and tourist attraction all rolled into one.
The resort includes I-Shou University, I-Shou International School, E-DA royal hotel, E-DA theme park, E-DA outlet mall, E-DA Skylark Hotel and E-DA Royal Villa.
Gratitude
The king toured the university and was highly impressed with its facilities. He expressed gratitude that the Taiwanese government provided Swazi students opportunities to study in that country.
He urged the students to return home and use the education acquired to develop the country.
The king said the country was also eager to develop her institutions of higher learning to very high standards and this is an area the I-Shou university could assist local institutions.
The king then extended an invitation to Lin, to consider Swaziland as an investment destination.
The king highlighted opportunities in the mining sector, such as iron ore to complement steel production, manufacturing, education, residential sectors, theme parks as well as the hospitality industry, among others.
His Majesty was also hosted to a dinner and a brief tour of the E-DA Villa by Lin who said he was honoured to host the king. He was also highly appreciative to the king for honouring his invitation to E-DA World.
