A "Golden Era" for Taiwan-Thailand Economic Relations
According to the latest statistics from Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, bilateral trade between Taiwan and Thailand in the first quarter of 2026 grew by 47.8% compared to the same period in 2025. This record high shows Taiwan's role as an indispensable partner in Thailand’s industrial upgrades and high-tech talent cultivation.
Beyond Investment: Taiwan Cultivates Technical Talent for Thailand
Since launching the "Taiwan-Thailand Tech Talent Service Platform" in late 2025, TECO in Thailand has achieved significant progress in Q1 2026:
- Campus Outreach in Three Key Provinces: TECO collaborated with Taiwanese businesses to hold recruitment seminars at vocational colleges in Bangkok, Pathum Thani, and Chonburi, reaching over 3,000 students.
- Closing Regional Gaps with Taiwan "INTENSE Program": Taiwan established "International Talent Circulation Bases" in Northern and Northeastern Thailand. By expanding the Ministry of Education’s INTENSE Program beyond Bangkok, Taiwan provides professional technical training to youth across various provinces, forming the backbone of future industries.
- Industry Matching for Key Sectors: TECO is actively connecting Printed Circuit Board (PCB) companies with Thai industrial zones to enhance "graduation-to-employment" opportunities for talented Thai graduates.
Mutual Benefits: Thailand as the Overseas Hub for Taiwan's Electronics Industry
- Economic Exchange: Per Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), Taiwan is Thailand’s 4th largest trading partner and 6th largest source of foreign investment. In 2025, Taiwanese investment projects in Thailand totaled 131 cases, amounting to 273.5 billion THB, primarily in electronics, ICT, and PCB industries.
- Educational Exchange: In 2025, nearly 2,000 Thai students studied in Taiwan, a 5% increase from 2024. Taiwan’s high-quality education and internship opportunities have become a top choice for Thai youth looking to improve their competitiveness.
A Triple-Win for Investment, Talent, and Industry
TECO Representative Peter Lan stated that Taiwan-Thailand cooperation has shifted from traditional manufacturing to AI and smart technology. "Taiwan is not just here for trade and investment; we are committed to local talent cultivation," said Representative Lan. Through the platform's one-stop service, he hopes more Thai students will join "Team Taiwan" to create a win-win-win scenario for investment, talent, and industry.
