2026 Taiwan Higher Education Expo in Thailand Expo Tour Takes Place in Bangkok, Khon Kaen, and Chiang Mai from August 29 to September 4

To deepen higher education cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand, promote international talent development, and enhance the visibility of Taiwan’s higher education in Thailand, the 2026 Taiwan Higher Education Expo is being held from August 29 to September 4, 2026, with events in Bangkok, Khon Kaen, and Chiang Mai.

Organized under the guidance of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) by the Taiwan Education Center in Thailand, with the support of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Chaoyang University of Technology, and National Sun Yat-sen University, the Expo introduces Thai students to Taiwan’s high-quality higher education resources, diverse pathways to further study, and future career opportunities through education fairs, university-to-university exchanges, and international industry-academia cooperation activities.

The Expo kicked off with a major education fair at Samyan Mitrtown Hall in Bangkok on August 29 and 30, bringing together 33 Taiwanese universities and 5 Taiwanese companies and attracting more than 1,600 Thai students, teachers, parents, and members of the education community. Participating universities provided information on academic programs and departments, application procedures, scholarships, and study-abroad opportunities. Cultural workshops and lucky draws were also organized, with the grand prize offering an opportunity to travel to Taiwan for a quarter-long Mandarin language program. Through these activities, participants were able not only to experience Taiwanese culture but also to gain a deeper understanding of the many opportunities available for pursuing higher education in Taiwan.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Sy-Chi Doong, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, noted that Taiwan is increasingly becoming an important higher education destination for international students. Taiwan offers a wide range of internationally connected academic programs, and studying in Taiwan provides students with more than a degree: it enables them to strengthen their professional skills, experience a vibrant and welcoming society, build connections with industry, and prepare themselves for international careers.

From August 29 to September 4, the Expo continues with a series of activities in Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok, with subsequent sessions placing particular emphasis on the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program). Dr. Chun-Chang Chu, Administrative Deputy Minister of Education, delivered a specially recorded video message introducing the objectives and key features of the program, attracting Thai students to study in Taiwan.

The events also brought together Prof. Wen-Yuh Jywe, Project Director of the International Industry-University Education Cooperation Alliance Project Office; President Chin-Lung Chang of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, the lead university of the INTACT Base: Taiwan-Thailand; President Tao-Ming Cheng of Chaoyang University of Technology; and representatives from National Sun Yat-sen University, with both Chaoyang University of Technology and National Sun Yat-sen University serving as deputy lead universities of the INTACT Base: Taiwan-Thailand. Together, they joined the regional events and helped mark the launch of this year’s Expo tour.

As economic and technological cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand continues to deepen, Thai students studying in Taiwan have the potential not only to become professionals in their respective fields, but also to serve as a new generation of bridges connecting Taiwan and Thailand. Covering fields such as semiconductors, STEM and finance, the INTENSE Program brings together government, industry, and academia to promote the exchange and cultivation of young talent from Taiwan and Thailand, creating an international talent circulation model that connects education, internships, and employment.

Speaking at the education fairs in Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai, Ms. Ann Hsueh, Secretary of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, highlighted Taiwan’s wide range of scholarship opportunities and the continued growth of Taiwan-Thailand educational cooperation. Taiwan’s higher education has become an increasingly important overseas study option for students from Southeast Asia. This year, the Education Division recommended 23 students for the Taiwan Scholarship and 61 students for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship to study in Taiwan, setting record highs for both programs. She also encouraged Thai students to explore the INTENSE Program, which brings together government, industry, and academia and offers generous support, including tuition assistance and living allowances.

Through this year’s four-stop education expo tour, the organizers aim not only to increase Thai students’ awareness of and interest in studying in Taiwan, but also to further connect bilateral talent development with industry cooperation. By establishing a new model for international talent circulation between Taiwan and Thailand, the Expo is expected to create new opportunities for higher education and industrial collaboration between the two sides.
