Taiwan Medical Program
This program concerns with the rigorous collaboration between Chung-Shan Medical University Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital on issues of public health along with other medical services. Aiming at the three phases of disease development, namely preventive medicine plus public health education, medical treatment during the illness, and patient recovery/rehabilitation after healing, we strive to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Tuvalu by ultimately reducing the occurrences of illness. This program consists of several sub-programs introduced as follows.
• Mobile Medical Team
Chung-Shan Medical University Hospital dispatches one or two medical team to Tuvalu on a yearly basis. Each offers an approximately two-week-long service focusing on medical consultation, keynote speech, and health promotion. Depending on yearly situation, members of Taiwan Mobile Medical Team include specialists from various domains such as cardiology, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, dental department, anaesthesiology, ENT department, nursing, nutrition, medical technology, medical engineering, ICT and etc.
Pelvic surgery removed a 10x10 tumor.
Ultrasound
• ICDF Healthcare Personnel Training
Each year two to three local hospital staffs are sent to Chung-Shan Medical University Hospital for further training.
• Non-Communicable Disease Prevention
Relevant work includes dispatching endocrine specialist, nutritionists, and special case managers for diabetes to assess the patients in Tuvalu, also designing health brochures for both adults and kids in dual languages English and Tuvaluan.

• Hospital Information System
Starting from 2012, plentiful Hospital Information System modules have been subsequently introduced to the local hospital to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their daily practices.
• Nationwide PAP smear Screening
From January 2013 to June 2014, a nationwide PAP smear screening was being carried out. The total number of participants exceeds 400.
Cytopathologist set up a simple laboratory to assist performing PAP smear screening.
• Microbiology Laboratory
Our team also assists establishing the function, including bacteria culture, device using instruction and maintenance.
• International Organization Activity Participation
Program coordinator participated in some activities on world health day.
