The 2025 MOFA Taiwan Scholarship is now open for applications until 30 June 2025. Those who are high school (or above) graduates from the United Kingdom and are interested to seek a bachelor, master or doctoral degree in Taiwan are welcomed to apply for such scholarship via postage to the Taipei Representative Office in the UK (50 Grosvenor Gardens London SW1W 0EB, United Kingdom) before 30 June 2025.
◇ Scholarship recipients may study on the following
● The pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Programme (LEP): Recipients may take the LEP for a maximum of one year at Mandarin teaching institutions (hereinafter “Mandarin Training Centers”) affiliated with a university or college accredited by the Ministry of Education.
● Degree programmes: Recipients may apply for admission to any degree programme leading to an undergraduate, master’s or doctoral degree, excluding in-service programmes.
◇ Scholarship:
● Scholarship recipients will be given a monthly stipend of:
1. NT$28,000 (around £700) for the LEP
2. NT$33,000 (around £825) for degree programmes
● Recipients are responsible for all expenses during their stay in Taiwan.
● MOFA will, in principle, not provide any other subsidies. MOFA will, however, provide recipients with one-way, economy-class plane tickets for direct flights to and from Taiwan.
◇ The award period for each programme is as follows:
● Pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Programme (LEP) (Optional): 1 year maximum
● Undergraduate programme: 4 years maximum.
● Master programme: 2 years maximum.
● Doctoral programme: 4 years maximum.
■ Total duration for any combination of these programmes under this scholarship is 5 years maximum.
◇ Application procedure:
Please send by post all the original documents as listed below to Taipei Representative Office in the UK before 30 June 2025.
● Required documents are:
■ A Completed MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Application Form
■ A photocopy of British passport
■ A photocopy of the highest-level diploma or certificate of equivalent educational level and a complete grade transcript. If issued by a foreign educational institution, these documents must be authenticated by an ROC diplomatic mission, or directly mailed by the foreign educational institution the applicant attended to the educational institution they plan to matriculate at (if these documents are in languages other than Chinese or English, a Chinese or an English translation should be provided).
■ Related documents certifying that they have applied to an educational institution or its affiliated Mandarin Training Center, such as photocopies of the application fee receipt, the application form, and a note of reply from the educational institution.
■ For those applying for degree programmes taught in Chinese, a photocopy of a TOCFL transcript or certificate for Level 2 or above.
■ Two letters of reference (recommendation) signed and sealed in envelopes. Photo copies and email submissions of letters of recommendation will not be considered.
■ Motivation letter and Future study plan.
■ Duly-signed “Terms of Agreement” for MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Programme
