On 21 November, Representative Lin and Deputy Director General of MOFA’s Department of International Organizations Ms Liang-Yu Wang attended the EBRD’s Grant Planning Meeting, where they announced Taiwan’s contribution of 2 million US dollars to the TaiwanBusiness-EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund.
The replenishment pledge, which was made at the EBRD’s London headquarters, follows Taiwan’s previous contribution of 2 million US dollars at the EBRD’s annual meeting in Cyprus in May 2017. Ms Wang also used the Grant Planning Meeting to hold bilateral talks with the EBRD’s banking teams to exchange views on how to increase future cooperation on technical matters.
Taiwan’s cooperation with the EBRD dates back to the Bank’s inception in 1991. As one of the largest donors and reliable partners of the Bank, Taiwan is committed to helping the Bank’s transition mandate in its countries of operations. Taiwanese donor support is especially focused on information technology, the knowledge economy, business advice for SMEs, sustainable resource management, intelligent transport systems and women in business. Taiwan also shares technical expertise and developmental experience with the EBRD’s countries of operations, with Taiwanese experts being retained by the bank to engage in a wide range of projects.
