On 13 December Representative Lin hosted the TRO annual Christmas dinner for Taiwan’s friends in the UK Parliament.
Held at the Grand Imperial Hotel, the dinner was attended by around 20 MPs and peers, including Co-chair of the British-Taiwanese All-Party Parliamentary Group Lord Steel of Aikwood and the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Taiwan Lord Faulkner of Worcester.
Representative Lin cited the progress in bilateral ties throughout the past year and thanked attendees for their enduring friendship and support. He expressed particular gratitude to the parliamentarians for their efforts in promoting Taiwan’s participation in international organisations, as well as Taiwan-UK relations in a wide range of fields.
Lord Steel and Lord Faulkner also delivered remarks, with Lord Steel stating that he was delighted to see so many of his colleagues present at the event, while praising the success of the recent Taiwan-UK Trade Talks and the resumption of non-stop flights between London and Taipei in December. Lord Faulkner said he had greatly appreciated the chance to meet with a wide range of high-level officials from Taiwan and voiced his plans to continue working to enhance bilateral relations during the coming year.
