Members of the Lords offer condolences to visiting Taiwanese legislators after Hualien earthquake

Following the strong earthquake which struck Hualien in the late evening on February 6, Lord Faulkner of Worcester, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Taiwan, and Baroness Anelay, Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, expressed their condolences in a meeting with Representative David Lin as well as Taiwanese legislators Yu Mei-Nu and Yu Wan-Ju from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on February 8.
On behalf of the Taiwanese government, Representative Lin thanked both members of the Lords for their warmth and friendship. He also stated that he would relay their sentiments to Taipei immediately.
The meeting was held in London at the Taipei Representative Office (TRO). The two Deputy Speakers of the House of Lords also discussed ways to promote exchange between Taiwan and the UK in the future with Representative Lin and the DPP officials.
