The 2019 Taiwan Fellowship programme will open for online applications on 1 May 2018. The deadline for applications will be 30 June 2018.
The Taiwan Fellowship was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researching Taiwan, cross-Strait relations, mainland China, the Asia-Pacific region, the New Southbound Policy, Taiwan's regional economic integration, and Taiwan's links with the Asia-Pacific and the world, the chance to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
The fellowship includes a stipend paid at the beginning of every month (42 NTD = 1GBP). Professors, associate professors, research fellows and associate research fellows are entitled to NT$ 60,000 while assistant professors, assistant research fellows, and doctoral candidates are entitled to round NT$ 50,000. Recipients are also entitled to one round-trip, one economy class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (the subsidy for travel will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations.) Accident insurance (plus medical insurance for accidental injuries) of up to NT$ 1 million is also provided.
The recipients of the fellowship will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2019. The duration of the programme is from 3 to 12 months and must be within the year 2019. The fellowship cannot extend to 2020 (ie to obtain a full 12 months the recipient must begin the fellowship in January 2019 and end by December of the same year.)
