American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) passes a pro-Taiwan resolution, “Resolution Supporting a US-Taiwan Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income”

ALEC passed a pro-Taiwan resolution in support of the negotiation of an agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income between the United States and Taiwan.
The U.S. has similar agreements with nations around the world, many of which do not enjoy as robust a trading relationship with the U.S. as Taiwan, and some, including China and Russia, which are strategic adversaries rather than strategic partners like Taiwan. Negotiating and concluding a tax agreement with Taiwan would facilitate U.S.-Taiwan economic cooperation, strengthen U.S.-Taiwan strategic relations, and encourage other nations to increase their economic ties to Taiwan.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) expresses its gratitude to ALEC for passing the resolution and is willing to work with all levels of the United States to promote better friendship with local grassroots across the U.S. and strengthen Taiwan-U.S. economic and trade cooperation.
