Application Method
- Please contact the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States located in Washington, D.C. (Email: consul.tecro@mofa.gov.tw; Address: 4201 Wisconsin Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20016). You can apply in person or by mail.
Required Documents
- Fill out the application form.
- One copy of the valid U.S. passport's data page. If you have a Taiwanese passport, please also provide a copy. If the applicant holds a non-U.S. passport, please attach a copy of the U.S. visa or green card.
- One original FBI criminal record check issued directly by the FBI (must be sealed and unopened). For instructions on how to apply for an FBI criminal record check, please refer to the FBI website.
- Or an email from the FBI confirming the criminal record check can be printed directly. Please forward the original FBI email to: consul.tecro@mofa.gov.tw and include the pin code for verification.
- If a report is issued by an FBI-approved channeler and not directly by the FBI, it must be verified by the U.S. State Department before being submitted to our office.
- The name on the FBI record must match the name on the U.S. passport (or Green Card). If there is a discrepancy or if the surname and given name are reversed, a new application must be submitted.
- If you wish to have documents mailed back, please prepare a self-addressed envelope(A4 size) with the recipient's name and address, affix the appropriate postage and tracking number, and include it with your application.
Application Fees
- $15 per document (Expedited Service Fee $22.5), payable by cash, money order, or cashier's check made out to TECRO. Personal checks are not accepted.
- For returning the documents, it is recommended for you to use prepaid DHL, FedEx, UPS or USPS. Please affix the shipping label to a return-envelope, ensuring it includes the full address and name, and send it along with all required documents (including all forms and payment).
- Our office only facilitates mailing and is not responsible for damage or loss during transit.
