The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S. is pleased to announce that the 2027 Taiwan Fellowship will be accepting applications from May 1 to June 30, 2026.
The fellowship was established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage experts and scholars who are interested in topics related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
This office will accept applications from those whose universities or affiliated institutions are based in the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. We welcome research topics related to Taiwan’s domestic and foreign policy issues, including comprehensive diplomacy, energy security, transnational repression, submarine cables and global supply chain resilience. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in November 2026.

1. Application Form (please print the completed online application form)
2. Resume (including a publication list)
3. Research proposal (three pages in principle using a standard research format)
4. Two letters of recommendation
