On May 13, Ambassador Alexander Yui was invited to join Human Events Daily, a podcast hosted by Jack Posobiec.
During the interview, Ambassador Yui emphasized that Taiwan is not only a leading global producer of advanced semiconductors, but also a vital partner of the United States, united by shared democratic values. He highlighted Taiwan’s strategic importance in geopolitics, technology, and supply chain security, and stressed that despite mounting pressure and isolation from China, Taiwanese people do not give up easily and will always find ways to move forward. He also noted that the resilience of the Taiwanese people closely mirrors the American “can-do spirit,” which has been a key driver of Taiwan’s success in the technology sector.
Ambassador Yui further pointed out that although Taiwan is geographically small, it is now the United States’ fourth-largest trading partner, following Canada, Mexico, and China. In recent years, Taiwanese overseas investment has continued to shift away from China—declining from approximately 85% twelve years ago to less than 4% today—while investment in the United States has increased significantly. He added that earlier this year, Taiwan and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding on investment cooperation and the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade. At the most recent SelectUSA Investment Summit, Taiwan also announced new investment initiatives in the United States, underscoring the continued strengthening of the Taiwan–U.S. economic partnership.
