The biggest Memorial Day Parade in the United States was once again held in Washington, D. C.
On May 25. OCAC Minister Chia-ching Hsu joined Ambassador Alexander Yui and Madame Karen Lo attending Washington DC’s Memorial Day parade to pay tribute to servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yui stated that The Republic of China (Taiwan) is proud to have maintained a long-standing security partnership with the United States, dating back to the Flying Tigers, World War II and all the way to the maintenance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits today, and will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder so future generations continue to live under the common values we cherish.
As this year’s parade coincided with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, over 100 groups from all over the United States participated in the event, including the R.O.C. Veterans’ Associations from Washington, D.C. and from across the United States and one from Asia. They formed a U.S.-R.O.C. Joint Flags team and also carried giant R.O.C. and U.S. National flags.
