Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, sent a letter to US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer expressing support for a US-Taiwan bilateral trade agreement.
CEO Chung pointed to North Carolina’s already large quantity of exports to Taiwan and the potential to grow these substantially through a US-Taiwan BTA, benefiting North Carolina’s manufacturers and farmers.
He also outlined the opportunity for expanding jobs supported by Taiwanese investment in North Carolina. These jobs are currently focused on the machinery and pharmaceutical industries but have the ability to expand into new industries with a US-Taiwan BTA.
