US Undersecretary of Economic Growth, Energy and Environment Keith J. Krach and Taiwan’s Minister-without-Portfolio John Deng led the first “Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue,” which opened on November 20, 2020.
The event was composed of physical and virtual meetings, with the physical meetings taking place in Washington DC. Taiwan’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Chen Zhenqi led the delegation to Washington.
The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) creating the foundation for future annual high-level economic dialogues alternating between Washington and Taipei.
This meeting focused on science and technology, 5G and telecommunications security, supply chain, women’s economic empowerment, infrastructure cooperation, investment review, and global health and safety issues.
This high-level dialogue is a major milestone in the ever-improving relationship between Taiwan and the US. We look forward to continuing the strengthening of our shared values of democracy transparency, economic openness, and rule of law.
