A parade and flag-raising ceremony in celebration of “Double Ten”, the 108th National Day of Republic of China (Taiwan), organized by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England, was held on the morning of October 5 in Boston. More than 1,000 people, including around 50 R.O.C. overseas community and student groups attended the event. Director-General and Mrs. Douglas Y. T. Hsu of TECO-Boston, all staff members and 7 Taiwanese cadets from Norwich University,Vermont, also participated. The parade proceeded from Chinatown to Boston City Hall Plaza followed by a flag-raising ceremony. All the participants showed their respect to the U.S. and R.O.C. flags after singing national anthems of the two countries.
A banquet attended by more than 500 guests was held on the evening of the same day which opened with guests holding the national flags of the Republic of China and the United States, followed by singing the national anthems and voicing support for the ROC. Director-General and Mrs. Douglas Y. T. Hsu of TECO-Boston and all staff members participated in this event as well. Distinguished guests and staff members from TECO-Boston lead guests to sing patriotic songs during the banquet that also included karaoke. The evening proved to be a wonderful time for all!
