The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston held the Teachers’ Day Banquet and Empowerment for Mandarin Teaching
on October 8, 2025, at the UMass Club in Boston. Coinciding with the visit of two distinguished professors from Taiwan, the event brought together over forty Mandarin educators from across the New England region. The gathering aimed to strengthen the professional network among local Mandarin teachers, encourage the exchange of teaching experiences, and express deep appreciation for their longstanding contributions to promoting Mandarin education and Taiwanese culture in the United States.
The program featured keynote presentations by Professor Jia-Fei Hung, Associate Dean of the College of International Studies and Social Sciences and Chair and Professor of the Department of Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University, and Assistant Professor Yu-Hsin Chang, Director of the ASEAN and Overseas Chinese Affairs Research Center at the University of Taipei. The two scholars shared practical insights on innovative curriculum design and the integration of AI and digital technology into Mandarin teaching. Through professional dialogue and networking, the event fostered collaboration, inspired creativity in teaching practices, and celebrated the passion and dedication of the Mandarin education community in New England.
