Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in ChicagoRE: Schedule Change for Consular Services through May, 2020
The State of Illinois where this office is located has extended its “stay at home” order to May 30, 2020 due to the pandemic. This office continues to provide consular services during this period. However, for most applications, we require applicants to mail in their applications. All applicants are advised to contact our office by phone at +1(312) 616-0100 or by email at chi@mofa.gov.tw before submitting their applications. If we cannot respond to you immediately due to high call volume, we will get back to you as soon as we can.
If you must apply in person after consulting with our team, you may only come to this office by appointment on Wednesday and Friday morning. You are required to wear masks or face coverings at all times inside the office. Restrooms are not open to the public during this period. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Processing time for applications during this period may be longer than usual. Please inform us if you need us to expedite your application. We will do the best we can to help you if possible.
For emergencies such as a life-threatening event involving Taiwanese, please contact our emergency number for our nationals at +1(312) 636-4758. Please be advised that we do not respond to inquiries for regular consular services through this number.
